How To Motivate Yourself To Workout
We all know that working out and eating good, whole foods is the best way of keeping our bodies performing at their best. Maybe it was a stressful day, or maybe it’s that time of the month, or maybe that Netflix series is just toooo good! Trust me, I’ve been there! However, there are some great ways you can motivate yourself so that you do make the decision and do the best for your overall health. Here are a few ways to find motivation to workout...
Use photos as motivation
You know I’m a huge fan of vision boards. For someone who is visual, like myself, vision boards or photos can be a great motivator. One thing I do not recommend, however, is using other people’s bodies for your board. It leads to comparison, which causes defeat: YOU are not that person. You have a different body, different experiences, different ways you carry weight. Maybe find a photo of yourself at a stage where you were happy with your body, and also a photo of yourself at the moment to put next to it. Looking at both photos each day will give you the drive to get to your goal, and also allow you to see how far you’ve come during your journey. Take photos each week or month and you will soon notice your body changing, which will encourage you even more to get up and workout. Another way to do this would be to hang some clothes that you want to get into alongside your current size so that you can track your progress

Mix it up!
Maybe you’re bored with your routine? Or maybe the motivation to get off the couch just isn't there? I’ve been there! More often than not, the reason for not going to the gym or working out is because you’re bored of your every day routine. That’s why each month over in the Shine Studio, I give you new workouts every single month. This way, you’re able to see progress from the beginning of the month to the end, and then the next month, you keep your muscles guessing! Another way to keep things interesting and out of a rut is to get yourself in some new, interesting, or even weird gym classes! These also give you the chance to discover new ways of keeping fit. (Who knows, you may even make new friends! Which leads me to my next motivator...
Do it with a friend or partner
Speaking of a workout buddy... why not work out with a good friend or your partner? Having someone to help motivate you when you’re feeling like giving up can work wonders. Whether you’re taking your pup for a long walk or you’re hitting the gym together, having someone to talk to and laugh with can really help someone who doesn’t like exercising that much. (Plus, laughter really is the best ab exercise!) You can also find motivation online. Over in our Facebook group, we’re sharing recipes, progress, struggles and more, which spurs us on to reach our goals!

Create the ultimate playlist
You all know how much I LOVE music! I’m constantly adding songs to my Spotify playlists (my go-to for workouts right now is Technicolor Beats or Go!) Whether you’re working out alone, at home, at the gym, with friends, or with people that you’ve yet to get to know, music always helps generate motivation and adrenaline. Music can help pretty much any kind of mood or situation, so find some tunes that make you want to get up and workout so that you’re able to help motivate yourself even further. Check out these brilliant workout playlists for some inspiration if you’re stuck, so that you can take one step further into achieving your body goals!
We know there’s no quick fix to fit and healthy (as we all have likely learned the hard way), and here’s the hard truth: you won’t always feel 100% motivated! But never be afraid to switch things up, and find what sparks you!
