Telling Her Story with Mackenzie | Old City, Philadelphia, PA
Mackenzie reached out to me via Instagram last October. seeking more visual content to help share her truly inspiring story through social media. To say it was an honor to work with her is an understatement. Though many of our photos were quite a divergence from my usual bright, white, and airy style, having the opportunity to stretch my creative capabilities and help bring her ideas to life made this session one of the most unforgettable to date.
Mackenzie is a true force, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to visually tell just some of her story...
A BIT OF HER JOURNEY...
See, in 2014, Mackenzie lost her mother to a five-year battle with triple-negative breast cancer.
In 2016, genetic testing revealed that she has the BRCA1 gene mutation, which leads to high risk for breast and ovarian cancers.
In 2017, at the age of 28, in order to manage this high risk, she underwent a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy.
The following photos you see not only tell Mackenzie's love and passion for writing, but her genuine passion and talent for storytelling. Another thing I loved about this session? Mackenzie was prepared with an entire Pinterest board of ideas, poses, and lighting to coordinate with her content ideas!
